HOW DO I JOIN?
All you need to join the High Country Library is proof of identity - such as a drivers licence or telephone account - and the signature of your parent or guardian if you are under 18. Even if you do not live in the north-east you can become a temporary member.
Once you have a library card you can use it to borrow from any of the branches.
WHAT CAN I BORROW?
You can borrow up to ten items at any time.
28 day loans:
Books for adults, teens and juniors in standard and large print
Talking books (both cassette and CD) - limit of four
14 day loans:
CD-ROMs and DVDs - limit of four
Magazines
Videos - limit of four
All items issued to you are your responsibility until they have been returned to the library and processed by staff. If you are unable to return items to the library during opening hours then there are after hours chutes at all branches.
LOST, DAMAGED OR LATE?
Even the most dedicated library user can forget to return an item on time so we give you two days grace. If you haven't finished with an item by it's due date we can give you one extension providing the item is not on hold. Phone the library to organise this or use My Account to do it yourself online.
When an item is a week overdue we will send you a reminder notice. Overdue fines of 10 cents per day apply to late returns and 50 cents per day for inter-library loans.
If you lose an item or it is so badly damaged it cannot be returned to the collection, you will be asked to pay for a replacement.
Remember; you are responsible for anything borrowed with your card - so if your card is lost or stolen, notify the library immediately. A replacement card can be issued for $2.50.
