Services

 Online catalogue:

Browse the entire High Country Library catalogue from this site. Searching by title, author or topic or you can click on new books to view the most recent additions to the collection.  Also, using advanced search, you are able to access the catalogues of other members of the Murraylink library network.

Online reservations - My Account:

Once you have selected an item online, all you need is your library card to place a reservation and have a copy sent to the branch of your choice.  My Account allows you to check items on loan and renew if necessary. New titles are listed under new books in the catalogue.

Internet access:

All branches have computers available for public use. It is free to browse the internet. Other communications, including e-mail, are available for a small fee. This is a popular service so you need to book ahead. Our staff can help with general enquiries and help first time internet users get started.

Databases:

As a library member you have free access to several databases through this site. Follow the databases link to enter a virtual library of newspapers, reference books and thousands of magazine articles and journals.

Search engines are not all the same. Search engines will let you get the most out of the internet by helping you select the best search engine to find the information you are seeking.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online brings a new dimension to your research project. This valuable resource is also offered free of charge to HCLC members.

Inter-library loans and special purchase requests:

If a title is not available in our collection we can conduct a search to find a location elsewhere in Australia. There are fees attached to this service and some books can only be used as reference within your branch.

Homebound - bringing books to your door:

Several branches offer a homebound service for members who cannot get to the library. This free of charge service ensures that our patrons are kept informed, entertained and up-to-date on reading and listening materials. Your library staff can advise who is eligible. They will discuss preferences and match you to a volunteer - your own personal link to the library.

Word processing:

There are computers available for word processing at each branch. We can sell you a floppy disk if you want to save your work and printing is available. Once again, this is a popular service so ring ahead and book.
